The Archdiocese’s Ministry for Migrants and Refugees, under the Catholic Commission for Social Justice, is seeking passionate and skilled persons, individuals or organizations, to help serve in our Virtual Child-Friendly Space.
What is a Child Friendly Space?
Our Child Friendly Space (CFS) is a collaboration with UNICEF to provide children refugees, asylum seekers, and unaccompanied or separated children (UASC), with psychosocial support, holistic engagement, and informal education.
We currently serve children between the ages of 5-17, grouped into the following:
- Junior: 5 – 8 years
- Middle: 9 – 12 years
- Senior: 13 – 17 years
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
The volunteer will:
- Comply with all protocols, codes of conduct and standards set out by CCSJ, AMMR, and UNICEF.
- Keep a record of attendance and activities for each session
- Form part of the CFS Volunteer Team
Conditions:
Volunteers will be required to conduct at least one session on a weekly or monthly basis between the hours of 9am-3pm on weekdays. They will be expected to possess a professional Google mail address and have access to their own device with which they will conduct sessions.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for volunteers that are able to contribute by conducting sessions in any one of the following categories:
- Virtual Tours & Culture Exchange (Food, currency, holidays/festivals, key landmarks etc.)
- Social-Emotional Learning (Coping, empathy, etc)
- Physical Education (aerobics, yoga, dance, games etc.)
- Health and Family Life Education (including covid specific activities to reinforce handwashing, etc)
- Drama (Puppet Shows, theatrics, etc)
- Dance
- Music
- Vocational Skills (Craft making, hairdressing, technicians etc)
- Science
- Computer & Technical Skills
- Online Book Club & Reading Corner
- Art & Craft (Digital or otherwise)
