“Man’s awareness of his rights must inevitably lead him to the recognition of his duties”.

“God is sovereign of all that exists and has instilled in every creature, including humans, laws and purposes which must be observed.”

“Every generation needs to know that freedom consists not in doing what we like but in having the right to do what we ought.”

Rights & responsibilities

Violation of human rights plagues every society in our world on a daily basis.

Promoting and protecting human rights is everyone’s business.  In Pope Francis’ message for World Day of Peace entitled, Good politics is at the service of peace, he said, “let us also remember the observation of St. Pope John XXIII in his encyclical Peace on Earth: ‘Man’s awareness of his rights must inevitably lead him to the recognition of his duties.'”

We have certain duties, responsibilities and rights to God, neighbour, ourselves and creation.

The roots of human rights are to be found in the dignity that belongs to each human being.

Our duty to society.

Love of God and of neighbour has global dimensions. We cannot be indifferent in the face of inequalities. We have a duty to stand in solidarity with those whose rights are being trampled upon.
